How do I disable mouse focus on a Netbook?

Hi, just bought myself a netbook running windows 7 and only one thing gets me down, the mouse pointer focus. When I'm typing on my blog it gets frustrating when I suddenly start typing in the midst of existing text, or links get clicked, because the focus has changed to the pointer and not where the cursor is!
Is there anyway to stop the focus following the pointer until I click where I want it to be?
Not used to this as I usually run a desktop.
    Help please!

    many thanks, Lol

This is probably caused by the touchpad Tap-to-click being enabled and you are accidentally brushing the touchpad while typing. I always disable Tap-tp-click so I have to use the touchpad buttons to click, just like a normal mouse.

If there is a touchpad icon in the System area of the Taskbar, right click on it and see if there is a Tap-to-click selected. If not, or no icon is present, open Control Panel then Mouse and see if you can find a way to turn it off.

If that resolves the problem good, if not you can turn it back on again.
