Forgot Password To Windows 7 64bit Dell Laptop, Please Help!

I am a novice in the IT world, was getting engaged and changed my password to get into my laptop b/c I had pics of the ring. Well the password I picked is pretty good b/c I locked myself out of my laptop. I have tried everything with no luck.

I purchased Windows Password Unlocker for $50 and it is not working at all ...

    So my questions are:

    - Is Windows Password Unlocker crap or am I just doing something wrong?
    - Are there any other options so I can be able to log into my laptop and not have to wipe it clean?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello Adam, and welcome to Seven Forums.

There's no need to pay for a program to do this. They like to spam a lot, so I wouldn't trust them anyways.

METHOD THREE in the tutorial below is a good proven way to reset your password.

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks for the response!

After reading the link provided that this is geared to Windows Vista ... I have Windows 7 ... should I follow these directions or is there something else that is different b/t Vista and 7.

    Thanks for the knowledge!

Anther option that just worked for me was to do a system restore from your Windows disc.
I just restored to a point when i knew what my password was.
    Worked a treat

Windows Password Unlocker is a sham

I had a similar issue with Windows Password Unlocker after purchasing the $50.00 "PRO" version. I used both the USB boot and the CD boot with different issues. The USB boot loaded the program and appeared to work once but it really didn't change anything (both the password and the new admin account were simply not there). When booting from the USB on a different machine the program froze every single time.

The CD was not much better. I tested it out on my wife's laptop. It boots to the CD, the program opens up and you select the OS and user password you want to remove/change, hit "next" and prompt says it was successful and asks if you want to reboot (this also matches their 4 easy steps). Upon reboot, the password had been removed but no new password existed so we were basically locked out. I rebooted and ran the "unlocker" several more times with absolutely no luck. I even re-read the "easy" steps to see if I was missing anything. I am also relatively new to the I.T. field but this should be an easy task. After a week I still have yet to receive a response to my "support desk" email regarding this. I use the term "support" loosely here.

We basically just used a Windows recovery CD to gain access. This product certainly seems a bit like a sham.
