Boot into safemode from the command Prompt? Possible?

I cant get windows to boot and it wont restore to another point with a repair disk, but when I put the repair disk in, it gives me an option to open a command prompt window. Is there a command to make the computer boot in safemode i can enter from the cmd prompt?

Hello fellupahill,

Yes, you could use OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to set Windows to boot into Safe Mode from a command prompt at boot.

Safe Mode

Hope this helps,
Shawn

4. To Start in Safe Mode A) In the command prompt, type the command below and press enter.
NOTE: Substitute identifier in the command below with the actual value or long GUID number to the right of identifer in the command used from step 2.
bcdedit /set {identifier} safeboot minimal
For example: If I wanted to have Windows 7 boot into Safe Mode using the values in the screenshot under step 2, I would type this command below and press Enter.

bcdedit /set {current} safeboot minimal
When I type in bcdedit /enum like step 2 of option 3 says it returns all the same info as the example image does cept for at the bottom my computer doesnt return "safeboot minimal" it doesnt say safeboot at all. So when I try to do the bcdedit /set {identifieir} safeboot minimal is says an unknown command was specified.

fellupahill,

You will not see a "safeboot minimal" option at first. That is just an example that included it if you had already set it that way. That's all.

Under the Windows Boot Loader sections in the command prompt, make note of the identifier value (ex: {current}) for the OS description (ex: Windows 7) that you want to use in steps 4, 5, or 6 below.
