    How to extract the contents of an .exe file instead of installing it ?


    Hello Guys,

    is it possible to extract a .exe file or a installer instead of installing it on the HDD ???

    Depends on the tool used to create the installer package for the most part.
    I've had mixed luck using this to extract them.

    You can also use 7Zip but not all exe files will open. Right click on the file and select open inside.

    You can also generally use WinRAR to expand the contents of an EXE installer file.

    Same approach... right-click on the EXE, mouse-over the WinRAR item to get the flyout with further choices, and select one of the several "extract" options on the flyout.

    Works perfectly. Just like UN-ZIP, such as if you download a driver/install file from the HP support site. You don't have to actually RUN the driver/install file to expand it and do the installation. You can just manually expand the installer file with WinRAR.

    I would guess that most similar ZIP/Un-ZIP products (free or non-free) would all do the same thing. I just happen to use WinRAR.

    with 7zip file manager similar to Winrar, it can did possible to extract the Qbitorrent setup.exe container. Yupi!
