Auto login, one account, no password: avoid to click account icon?

Hi everyone and merry Christmas!

I followed the procedure found on the web, I entered "netplwiz" and did uncheck “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer".
There is no password set.
THere is just one user/account which is obviously also the administrator.
(the Account tab shows also HomeGroupUser$, but I guess is a default option...)

the point is that when I switch the pc on, I have to click on the icon of the user account in order to see the desktop. Is there any chance I can login automatically without even clicking on the user icon?

Go ahead and create a password for your user account, then do the tutorial below again to enter the new password and set your user account to be logged into automatically at startup.

are you saying that -for my nopassword account- I should create a fake password and then remove it?

Sorry, no. I meant to create a password for the account so that you will have one to enter in netplwiz when doing the tutorial again to have that account to log on automatically with afterwards. You wouldn't want to remoce the password afterwards.

thanks but what if I do not want to set a password? is it possible to have automatic login, no password, and not having to click on user icon?

Today, I noticed this: when I switch the pc on, it asks me to click on user icon. But if, after I switch the pc on I am absent and dont do anything and the screen saver starts, once I am back and move the mouse or click any key to stop the screen saver, it just brings me to the desktop, without any need to click on the user icon. Isn't that weird?

When you use the tutorial, check the box, select the user account, uncheck the box, apply, be sure to leave the password fields blank, and OK it.

If that doesn't allow you to, then you will need to create a password for the account, and repeat the above but enter the new password instead.
