Windows 7: renaming files - file name too large? how to disable this?

I played around in Explorer when trying out the Path Too Long software. When you hit the limit, Explorer won't let you type any more characters. The total path cannot exceed 260. That's why I want to see the "copy as path" output. I'd be very surprised if the total path with the characters shown in the screen shot don't total to that number.

You can have longer paths created by programs. But Explorer won't let you type them in.
