[Q] Korean font not displaying properly

Since sometime ago, I notice Korean characters display as square boxes.. It has been becoming much worse lately. Sometimes a reboot fixes the problem, but most of the time, it doesn't.

I have had same setting for over a year and I haven't had this problem until couple months ago.. It seems like when I type in Korean, I don't have a problem displaying appropriate characters. Same goes with displaying contents on the web, except for the tab name on Google Chrome. Other than that, it just doesn't seem to work right...........

I googled for similar problem and tried some tweaks but it doesn't seem to work.

I don't want my Windows MUI to be in Korean. I want it to be in English. I just want Korean characters to display correctly.

    Could anyone help me out?

This is a screenshot of Google Chrome. The content in the page displays properly but the tab title displays square box instead.

This is one of my mp3 file with Korean title. Again, it displays square box instead of Korean characters. It displays square box for all Korean characters..

This is my Winamp playlist. All Korean titled characters display in square boxes.

Hi strangesweet, welcome to 7F! :)

There's a corruption in your language files. Would this link help to solve it?

This tutorial may also help: Display Language Packs - Install and Uninstall
There are also tutorials at the bottom of that one that may help.

    Thank you for the help.

But like I stated, I'm not looking to change MUI - display and menu to Korean. I just want Korean characters to display properly for anything that are supposed to be in Korean, instead of those squared boxes.

I want the menu and Windows 7 to be in English. I would just like the texts to display in Korean.

I don't think I had this problem with XP nor Vista..

I installed the Korean display language, reboot, and it was fine for the time being. I turned my computer off to go to the school, I booted again and it is printing squared boxes again....

    Okay, lets try this:

Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Region and Language

Click on Administrative tab, then click on "Change System Local"

Select Korea, OK, Apply, OK your way out.

    Reboot.

    Okay or not?

I tried both of the methods posted before.. this one definitely works, but I've had problem running some of my applications if I set it to Korean locale so yea.. but otherwise, this seems to be working~

I wanted to find a working option while leaving locale to English.

    Thanks!

I tried this too after Googling few weeks ago. This works after first reboot. But it doesn't work after I reboot again.
