    unhandled exception error message

Hi: I am trying to run a program on my conputer which I have run many times before. Yesterday when I tried to run it I get a message "unhandled exception". This prevents me from running the program. In the dialoge box it says to press continue and the message will be ignored and try to run the program but it just shades out the program and I cannot do anything . There is a quit button which does shut it down. I wonder if anyone can help me.

Unhandled exception means that an error occurred but the program didn't engage a specific error handling routine for the error. Most scripting languanges/compilers that do exceptions have a "catch all" handler if the error isn't handled by any routine in the program. For that reason it doesn't really give you much information. What is the program and what triggers the error? Just starting it? If it comes with a DLL or library the library or DLL itself may be missing or deleted.

Other than that please provide some specific information.

The program is called Airhauler. It is a program for using flight simulator. The problem occurs after it is running. But when i select an item the message comes on. I have no idea what to do about it

I was thinking of restoring my computer to a few days back. Is this a way to go?

It may be the simplest fix. Do you have a battery backup(UPS) ??
If not, sometimes if you get a fraction of a second power glitch some files may be corrupted. Esp. if you haven't made system changes or installed anything since the last restore point, it's probably the best approach. If you lose some system updates presumably the system will notice they're no longer there and download them again. If you use automatic update that is.

I think I will give it a try since I seem to have no other alternative. I think it should fix the problem since all was ok yesterday. I'll let you know. Thanks for the advice.

Hi Miles Ahead: My problem has been fixed. The problem was that as I was using Air Hauler which uses FSX. There was a file (AHX.mdb) missing in the Air Hauler folder. This file is needed to get the application running. I reinstalled the Air Hauler program and the file is there now and all works fine now.I have no idea how the file went missing in the first place. Just thought I would let you know. Thanks for your help on this matter.
