    not able to format C drive !!!


    hi all again...
    i have a problem...
    i have windows 7 installed on E drive and my C drive contains old vista...
    now i want to delete vista and want to format c drive...
    when i start win7 and try to format C drive by right clicking on it...it says "windows was unable to complete the format"
    please help me....i want to format it,... i need some space in my pc urgently
    make sure that my dvd drive is not working

    Download Gparted, burn to a cd/dvd and boot from the disc, and then format the drive

    I would try to boot a Win7 DVD Installation and format C drive from there...just don't continue installation afterwards

    Use diskmgmt.msc and delete the vista partition?

    that doesnt stop you from running the windows 7 install You can extract the iso, run the setup, format the drive, and then exit install. This should work.

    I might be wrong but you can't do drive fomats from within Windows 7 through setup for Windows 7...I could be wrong
