iexplore.exe problem

okay well i need some help here.
On my laptop when i try open an app a window pops up that says.
choose the program you want to use to open this file:
File: Iexplore.exe
recommended programs
other programs

I picked Internet Explorer and another window pops up
it says

Do you want to run or save this file
name: iexplore.exe
type: Application, 678KB
from: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer

What is the name and the extension of the file that you are trying to open?
