Windows 7: Windows start search dissappeared?

1. Are you using a custom theme?
2. Right click on the Start and pick properties/customize/set to default.
3. You must run sfc /scannow until it fixes the problems if it can. It may take 3 or 4 times with reboot after each time. Windows 7 will not work properly until System File Checker comes up clean,(no problems).

i set it to default and the SFC scan can't fix the missing or corrupt files!!!

likely you have to do a Repair Install of your windows.

Not able to search for files via start menu search box
I am only able to search for files and folders via the search box inside the start menu with one user. I had one admin account, and two standard user accounts. Right off the bat, Windows Explorer allows all users to search for files/folders. Searching for files/folders within the start menu...
