Right click the Desktop and chose Personalise.

Under Desktop Icons, select Recycle Bin. Click OK and it should be there now.

If you have selected "Show all folders", it should show Recycle Bin in an Explorer Window:

Open an Explorer Window.

Keep on the General Tab and under Navigation Pane click "Show all folders".

It will be right at the bottom of the Navigation Pane on the left.

I open mine from my 'hidden' Rocket Dock. Only 1 click in lieu of 2.

yes Brink, it is a good alternative. Took me a while to organise the recycle bin in the task bar because I have two separators because I type two languages.
