    Compressed zipped folders error

Have no idea why this started but here it is. When I tried to zip a group of files
by right click option this error appeared:

    "compressed (zipped) folders error"
    "unable to complete operation"
    "access is denied"

I have full administrator's rights so can't understand why this is happening.
The only thing that's changed on my system is an adobe reader update and a McAfee antivirus update.

    The list of permission entries:

    Authenticated Users - modify
    System - full control
    Administrators (myname-PC\administrators) - full control
    Users (myname-PC\users) - full control

This is for win7 pro 64bit sp1. Any comments welcome.

    Thanks!

System related errors usually mean file system corruption (meaning the data on the disk has become corrupted) or system file corruption (meaning Windows system files that Windows uses to run may be corrupted).

Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors checked for all SSDs. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log

Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors. Post back if it continues to show errors after the third run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations.

They can also be related to viruses. If the above does not solve your problem, check for viruses.
Download and install the free version of Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download (do not start the trial) and make sure it is updated. Do not run a scan yet.
Download VIPRE Rescue - VIPRE Computer Recovery Solution from Sunbelt Software but do not unzip it yet
Download the Fakerean removal tool but do not run it yet.
Start your computer in Safe Mode
Unzip VIPRE Rescue and let it run.
Run a full scan with Malwarebytes.
    Run the fakerean removal tool.

    Writhziden,

Below is the log from chkdsk. On a side note, I installed the "take ownership" option
to the right-click menu and still no avail. I'll try the other options you've listed and see what happens.

You may want to run disk check again with just the "Automatically fix file system errors" checked. Your sectors are fine, so no need to try to recover bad sectors, but "Windows has made corrections to the file system" and may need to do further corrections. I usually run until I get the message that no problems were found.

    Try chkdsk again

    Okay up to this point:

    1) ran chkdsk
    2) ran VIPRE Rescue
    3) ran MalWarebytes
    4) ran fakerean tool

    All were ran in safe-mode.

Vipre found (3) items - I assume it deleted them. No option was given to verify
this that I know of. The other programs (except chkdsk) found nothing. Problem
is still being an issue when trying to zip to a folder. Will run chkdsk (2) more times
    and post results.

    Cheers!

Yes, VIPRE rescue deletes the items. The page where you downloaded it has information on where to look to find which items were deleted in case you want to recover them. It is an .xml file inside C:\VIPRERESCUE. After running the disk checks, will you be running the SFC /SCANNOW command?

Ran chkdsk again and looks like all is clear, below is the report. It's looking more and more like only a reformat will take care of this. I installed 7-zip and can compress files to a folder no problem, but windows still won't have it. Makes no sense to me. Is there anything else to try?

Hard disk looks good, now. Have you run the system file check, SFC /SCANNOW?
