I would not use a HD which the maker's HD Diagnostics say is below threshold, unless it will convincingly repair it. You might want to try running that as well as Disk Check again to see if it gets any traction.
However many believe that a repaired HD is still not worth messing with, although there are a few I've repaired that are still running years later.

I have had 3 hard drives fail like this persons in the last 18 months.
(Tosh 3D laptop, Win 7 Ultimate, i7, 8 gig ram, 640 gig HD etc)
I am sick of losing data. Tosh refused to return my first two damaged hard-drives for me to try recover data. After the most recent failure, I couldn't find a trusted/decent file-recovery software package as they all became confusing after 400 hours reading.
Can anyone tell me what the end result of this thread was except that he gave up and moved along?
I want to know WHY this happens to tens of thousands of people; its like its a virus thats turning hard drives into RAW files. Or is it the summer HEAT?

PLEEEEEESE TELL US WHAT SOFTWARE IS BEST TO TRY AND REPAIR A WINDOWS 7 X64 HARD DRIVE TO BOOT ONE MORE TIME TO COPY/CLONE THE DRIVE?
I am fed up of reading around at it makes me DIZZY. Too many software makers fail to mention win 7 "x64-bit" in their material.

Burn to CD using Windows Image Burner or IMgburn, boot to run extended scan.
