Explorer not allowing file operations (cut/copy/del)

I've had this problem for a while now. The explorer is not allowing me to rename, move or delete certain files. It happens mostly with .mkv files. It displays the message "The file is open in windows explorer, close and try again ", I checked the task manager, and this happens even when no instances of the file are running. I managed to delete some files using command prompt, but I really want this solved and back to normal.

This usually happens when I move files between two partitions, or delete/rename any file in those partitions.

Use the software Unlocker. It helps you do the following:

If you've ever been unable to delete a file in Windows, and can't figure out what program's using it, Unlocker is the solution. Have you ever seen these Windows error messages?

    • Cannot delete folder: It is being used by another person or program
    • Cannot delete file: Access is denied
    • There has been a sharing violation.
    • The source or destination file may be in use.
    • The file is in use by another program or user.
    • Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

Unlocker can help! Simply right-click the folder or file and select Unlocker. If the folder or file is locked, a window listing of lockers will appear. Simply click Unlock All and you are done!

Download it from here: Download Unlocker 1.9.1 - FileHippo.com

    Hope this helps !

Some of codecs integrate thumbnails previewer in Explorer. Depending on your codec try disabling that feature.

And YES, you can try Unlocker x86, x64, Portable (x86,x64)
