Windows 7: Dialog Boxes do not appear for certain programs

Dialog Boxes do not appear for certain programs

For the past couple of months, I've noticed that dialog boxes (For Save as, Open, Error messages, ect) are not appearing. The window will go unfocused for a second but the dialog box never appears. This has only been happening with certain programs such as Microsoft Office, Steam, and Musenotes (Although there are many others too) while other programs such as notepad are working completely fine.
All of the solutions I've found either have to do with AutoCad (Which I don't have) or the dialog box simply appearing off screen (None of the solutions work)
I would be immensely appreciative if someone could shed some light on this problem.

Thanks.

Although this answer might sound to lame/obvious, did you scan your system for malware presence?

Thanks for responding.

I tried SFC /Scannow and it found no violations.

I have been scanning my computer with Microsoft Security Essentials and AVG (Yes I know I shouldn't be running two different scanners) and nothing has turned up.

You might be better with Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware. They seem to be recommended by most in the forum. The links are in my signature. It never hurts to use more than one.

Maybe that's the problem?

Two on demand scanners don't cause any problems but you shouldn't use more than one real time AV.
