I would like to create and schedule a reminder popup to connect my external drive to my laptop for backup. How do do it?

Seems like you could use task scheduler to open a note daily.

    And I found this...

Setup a reminder in Windows 7 (one-time notification or recurring alert)

You could utilize a 3rd party app like Yahoo Messenger, (which, if you chose to, you could also use in conjunction with the Yahoo Calendar).

Do you really need a reminder to pop up on your computer to do this? Why not just pick a time that fits into your routine? For example, if you are home making dinner every Thursday night, run your backups then.

I used the TS and it works fine. I added audio so I would hear it if away from the computer. Audio plays fine but I need a command to close Windows Media Center so the message will display.

Use the taskkill command to close WMC. Open a command prompt and type taskkill /? to see usage.

Tasklist does not list the WMC, so I can't use taskkill. I turn WMC on and off and it does not show-up in processes. Help?

Winalarm looks pretty nifty -- downloaded... thx boohbah!

To the OP, if you still want to go with your other method, you could use Windows Media Player to play your audio. It shows up in tasklist. In fact, I had the same kind of setup years ago utilizing taskkill and scheduled task. The PC was basically an alarm clock that could wake the dead I'm a somewhat heavy sleeper!

I wonder where you find WMC running? Gotta be somewhere...

WMC is ehshell.exe in Task Manager processes.
