I'm with Cap'n Jack Sparrow on this one in that I think all the Guru crew will receive the award before long. :)
I for sure hope not, I would not like to see this award go on sale.

And, to be honest although nobody wants to say it aloud, quite a many gurus and gold members have earned their badges mostly on chillout, welcoming new members and congratulating each other on each new turd which they quite often earn following the "you scratch my bag, I scratch your bag" principle.

Contributing to a community, as the name of the award says, can of course also be keeping the spirits up and chatting, being active, but contributing on a technical forum as the Seven Forums should also include some problem solving and helping, at least when we speak about awards.

I am plesed that Microsoft did not create an award automat, that this award really needs to be earned. I am pleased only so few got it. Although some of my candidates did not receive the award now, I think the ones we got went to correct members. I am especially pleased about Wolfgang getting award, having bad conscience because I forgot him from my list of nominees...

I very sincerely hope the award needs also in the future something more than a certain amount of posts and a certain amount of days as a member.

Once again, I am congratulating you geeks. You made history today; Microsoft has never before recognised a non-Microsoft site or forums so extraordinary clearly.

    In quite festive mood,

    Kari

Kari, you are a real friend. No need to have a bad conscience for a little omission. But thanks for the thought. I forget things quite often - Alzheimer seems to take it's toll. LOL.

    I can agree on this
I'm personally not in the chillout room enough to say my post count from there but ...
If members do have good post and real contributions then i can see no reason not to give them the award but if people are getting them purley for post count then
    that is a problem
I just want it to be clear the most helpfull people here deserved to be reconized above all others especially if there help offered real time solutions Kari +1 im with you

Kari, yesterday he was telling me he should retire to shuffleboard. Look what he wakes up to today!

It's great that Microsoft is more broadly recognizing the vital role which SevenForums plays in supporting their stellar OS. Many of us have been with it since its birth and have helped support it like our own kid.

I believe MS is interested in awarding excellence and hope this new MCCA award is a stepping stone to MVP for all of our best.

Did you know that anyone can nominate for MVP? In the next year I'm going to start having several nominations in the hopper at all times for our team here, and hope you'll join me with your own. As I said earlier, we should have just as many MVP's as MS's own forums and I think MS will be glad to award our own excellence.

Next year at MVP Summit instead of being the only 7F MVP in a seminar, hearing a table of Answers MVP's brag about our tutorials and help, I'd like to be at a table of 7F MVP's who've earned their place there.

As soon as I had posted the last post I realised it needs some clarification.

Of course I value those who take care of our new members, welcome them and point them in the right direction. I laugh at jokes on Chillout > Jokes, I enjoy reading news from all around the world on Chillout > Today, it gave my enormous pleasure to follow the beginning and development of the Real Seven Forums Love Story on Chillout > Quote of the Day, and so on.

Please all of you who felt offended because of my last post, try to understand what I really meant.

It's just that an award is IMO something that needs to earned. It can not be automatically awarded if certain criteria is fullfilled, on technical forums like SF it must be based on active contribution. In here at the Seven Forums, to be awarded as community contributor must include some honest work, helping.

Greg, you are giving away my strategic plan for the future. Shuffelboard is a favorite past time here in Florida. And when I am back in Europe, I can sustitute with boule.

But don't worry. As long as I can decypher this screen, I will stick around. And then, I always have the magnifier.

Wait for shuffleboard til you shuffle, Wolfgang.

You'll still be calculating SSD offsets in your naps.
