XP Home Generic Question (Probably Applies To 7 Also)

I tried to install a program and device driver (Diamond VC 600 Video Converter) from an original CD. I ended up with two "unknown devices" (tried to install it on a different USB port also). My system meets all program requirements.
How do I get rid of the "unknown device(s)" in device manager ???

Go to Device manager and select the Unknown device, right click on it and select "Uninstall". The Unknown device icon will be removed. Similarly remove the other unknown device. Now click on the scan for hardware changes. Hopefully the correct device driver will get installed now...

If you are interested in finding out what they are and getting drivers installed for them, follow the steps at pcidatabase.com.
