    Win 7 drive letter asssignment


    I have the operating system win 7 professional 64 bit but it quit assigning drive letters. I can see the drives (usb flash memory or usb hard drives) in the disk managment and assign a drive letter sucessfully. I cannot figure out what changed and now my laptop will not assign any drive letters to my external drives automatically. Helpful suggestions???

    Check for infection with a full scan of Malwarebytes

    Then run SFC -SCANNOW Command

    Can you assign a drive letter in Disk Mgmt? Drive Letter - Add, Change, or Remove in Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums

    Most likely you will succeed if you follow the advise given by Gregrocker.

    In the event that you don't then please also try doing it using a Partition Manager Boot CD.
