    Black notebook background

    Hi,

I have a Dell Mini 1011 1921 and for some reason the desktop background is just black yet when I got it, it was the blue windows background

I can't remember precisely when and how this happened, yet have been trying to locate the file location where the background should be but with no avail

I realise that you cannot change backgrounds with windows 7 starter addition unless using the adjustment programme from this website, yet at the moment am just trying to workout how to get my original background back

Any help would be greatly appreciated please

    Thankyou,

    Sam

    Thanks for the welcome:)

I have read that tutorial and I only have windows 7 Starter

    I have read another tutorial-

    Remove Background Images (where available)

I have followed this and made sure the remove background images box is unticked yet all I am getting is a black screen I've also checked the path of the default background C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows\img0.jpg and the correct windows picture is there in the right place so I don't understand why it's not displaying on the background

My aim is just to have the correct windows 7 background again, not change it to a different one because looking at a black screen gets a little bit boring!

    Thanks,

    Sam

Did you originally use a program or other efforts to try changing the background, resulting in the black background?

Nope haven't used any programmes before, just seemed to happen all of a sudden and haven't been able to figure out how to change it back

    Thankyou

Aha! Thankyou very much-After months of trying to fix the problem it has finally worked :)

Went on regedit, for some reason the value %windir%\web\wallpaper\windows\img0.jpg was actually inputed in a key called Wallpaperold and wallpaper itself was blank so I swapped the two names around and it sorted the problem

All I can think is that I had a virus a few months ago which is when the problem seemed to arise, could this have possibly done this? Can I also delete the value wallpaperold? The input is blank and doesn't seem in use

    Thankyou very much again :)
