Wow, talk about another messup on microsofts part. Developers, with their endless spew of pointlessly redundant features, have to make sure to implement something so useless. Maybe if they were even semi-intellegent (which I had assumed they were, considering it's an operating system), they would have realized that some people don't like it, and as such should make an option to turn that annoying piece of garbage off.

I guess we wait for an update, patch, or a fixed version of windows 7 made by some independent man who spends his time giving people what they want, even if it means breaking the law. Hopefully the next windows 7 update will give us an answer to this problem.

What problem? There is no "problem" with the show desktop button.

Quite a few problems.

1. You can't turn it off. Removing choice from the user is a problem with me.
2. People accidentally click on it, and it minimizes everything the user has been working on, interrupting their work flow and train of thought.
3. It takes up space. On low resolution monitors you want to save every pixel you can.
4. It is redundant. By default it is in the quick launch toolbar (which you can setup), in the context menu for the taskbar, and there is a shortcut key (win+7).
5. It does not retain the classic windows 95 theme. Everything looks like you are using windows 95, and then in the bottom right there is a notification reminding you that you are using windows 7. Looks like you can't brag to your friends anymore.
