What is that "other" partition on my drive for?

    (Sorry for the vague title.)
When I got my system, it had the standard C: drive and another partition, the S: drive. It is 1.46 GB, but is 44% free space. Lenovo's tech support could not give me a clear description of what it's used for, but they were adamant that I not remove it.

What is it? While it get destroyed if I try to fresh install Windows7? Can (or should) I destroy it if I reinstall Windows 7?

Can't you attach a screen shot of the drive content while it open with explorer?

Here you go, The S is for Service.

Understanding hard drive partitions on Lenovo systems with Microsoft Vista - Desktop, ThinkPad and Workstation

If you are going to reinstall 7, you should get rid of it and let seven create it's own partition.

That is a leftover from your Vista, I would follow the advice in your other thread,

Did I upgrade to Win7 on PC that can't handle it?
