Windows Startup Repair Not Working!! Please Help!!
I am new to posting here but just recently ran across a problem with windows 7 and thought I would give it a shot.
I ran a virus scan on my computer and noticed that I had a Trojan of some kind. I did the recommended command which was to remove the file. Everything was working fine until i noticed that my firewall was no longer active. Turns out that the Base Filtering Engine got deleted. I was reading online about how to get it back and the common idea was to do a system restore. So I tried to use a restore from a week ago, before I got the virus. I left my computer running for a good 5 hours and it still wasnt done. I read on other posts that restores shouldnt take longer then 45 mins and that I should restart my computer. So I did. The computer fired up to a black screen that said "loading windows files" and then made its way to the Startup Repair window. It ran for a few mins and then said that it could not be repaired and gave me the following message:
Problem Event Name: StartupRepairOffline
Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 03: Unknown
Problem Signature 04: 8
Problem Signature 05: AutoFailover
Problem Signature 06: 1
Problem Signature 07: MissingOsLoader
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033
After sending the error report to microsoft, nothing happened. So I clicked on advanced options which opened up a window that gave me the option of startup repair (which gives me the error message again), System Restore (which doesnt allow me to restore from any of my backups), System Image Recovery (i have no idea how to use), Windows Memory Diagnostic (which runs fine and doesnt give me any issues), and Command Prompt.
I have tried to restart my computer and start it in safe mode, but I cant even get to safe mode. When it restarts I try to press F8 but nothing happens. I know the keyboard is connected but for some reason it doesnt do anything. It automatically goes to the black screen where it tries to load the windows files...
I dont speak computer language very well so if anyone could "dumb it down" for me that would be great. I have a huge school project due in the following few weeks and need my computer back up and running. Please help!
Thanks,
Mikeyjoe
