Windows 7 - Laptop won't run any applications whatsoever ._.

So...I was on my laptop then all of a sudden its like "Gonna shutdown " shuts itself down, then restarts itself. Upon restarting it decided that it doesn't want to open up any applications whatsoever. I've tried checking the .exe registry, but it seems to be perfectly fine.

Don't really have the money to bring it in and get it fixed...any suggestions on what I should do? Aside from throwing it out the window in frustration.

Try to restore the .exe default association: Default File Type Associations - Restore

Well what happens, exactly? Does it freeze or can you click around??

You didn't really post much in the way of helpful information, so we would just be guessing at this point. Like knightlyscribe said, what exactly happens? Popup message, error message? You might want to check to see if your antivirus and firewall are still working just in case it a virus infection. Any idea why it rebooted, windows update? Can you access system restore, if yes go back a date before this happened.
