I tried using the paragon boot corrector, to search for and attempt to fix any problems.

It said searching for valid windows installations on your computer.

No NT installation found

I'm not sure what trying the factory image restore I tried to do, that failed as done, but when ever I restart my computer.
I get a black screen saying "BOOTMGR is missing, press ctrl+alt+del to restart"

Somebody I work with is offering me 80 for it, to use for parts.

He reckons I won't get anymore than that, and that once a laptop is gone it's gone, you can't repair them like you can with PC's.

I don't know though, I paid 510 for this Laptop last June.. I don't know if he's trying to pull a fast one over me.
If there's a chance he could fix it and make a profit from selling it on at my expense, then no way! lol.

I thought you needed to rescue your files. I linked Paragon Rescue for that purpose if you couldn't boot Win7 DVD to copy out your files. Where was anything said about boot corrector?

Please focus on rescuiing your files and then replacing your HD which has now been confirmed failed by Seatools extended CD test and HD diagnostics.

Depending upon the size you need, you can find replacement laptop SATA HD's online for $50, or really upgrade to SSD to get best performance yet.

Nah, I already posted earlier that I've accepted that I have lost my files, hence why I tried a factory reset.

I guess we got our wires crossed some where, I thought because you said that only 2 out of 12 hard drives have been unrepairable for you, that they may still have been a chance to fix my hard drive.
That's why I selected the repair hard drive option on Paragon.

I must have gotten the wrong end of the stick.

Anyway, somebody at my work, who knows more about laptops than me (which is not hard) as just had a look at my Laptop

He said that a smart hard disk quick (303) error in the bios, confirms that my hard drive is dead.

Thanks for the help form every one who contributed, appreciated.

Is this caused by a faulty hard drive? I'm just wondering, because I don't want to buy a new hard drive, and still not have it work...
Bump.
If a new hard drive will definitely fix it, I shall buy a new hard drive this weekend.

There is no repair HD option on Paragon Rescue Disk. It is a back up method for copying out your files from an unbootable HD if Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console doesn't work.

I would at least try it for your intended purpose since you burned the CD.

In attempting to copy your files you can also see whether there is any life at all left in your HD.

But the only way to confirm and possibly repair it is using the booted HD diagostic CD which has been run twice now and pronounced dead, correct?

Let us know how it goes.

Also, what hard drive would you recommend?
And would any hard drive fit inside my Laptop, or does it have to be a certain size/make?

Thanks in advance

Ok I'll try the back up and see if I have any life in my hard drive.

And yep, well it said there was an error with it and I should contact my manufacturer with Seagate and Hitachi and also the built in HP Advanced system diagnostics.

I can't find an 'iso image' for the Toshiba diagnostic tool though..

Since I always shop for price I would google laptop SATA hard drives and then consult in our Hardware forum about whether one you like will work for sure.

An easier option is to call around to the local stores which have a parts counter to see if you can get one decently priced which they can spec for you with certainty.

I do this when upgrading parts, research and shop online but if I can get a comparable price at the local CompUSA/TigerDirect counter I go there and have it the same day.

Would something like this work?

Western Digital 320GB SATA HDD | eBay

It's cheap, and something I could use for the time being.
