    Bios takes long time to load


    I am having a sony vaio leptop
    RAM 3GB
    GPU ATI 4SERIES 1.5GB
    PROCESSOR AMD ANTHLON 2 DUAL CORE 2.1 GHZ
    my bios is taking 30 to 40 sec to detect the hard drive when booting up ..

    i have not connected any external drive and still its taking long time i have even updated the bios but no hopes
    please help me out

    Do you always get that black screen with those options, especially " start normally". If so that's not normal at all. Have you checked for virus's and malware? Is the laptop abnormally warmer than usual? Have you cleaned out all the intake and exhaust ports with canned air?

    yes i have done all thing which u have listed..
    i dont get any such messages which u have listed above
    i have even tried updating my h20 bios from sony e support but its d same
    i have even done RAM test with memtest 86 i did not get any errors
    i have even dissoconnected the internal harddrive bu still the bios takes a long time ...to detect the harddrive

    Check these two options in the Bios.

    Full Screen Logo - (disable) This will turn off the Vaio image and allow you to see each part of the bios boot and maybe you can tell wheres the delay.

    Quick Power On Self Test - (enable) Cuts down on some of the extended tests.

    these option are not available in my bios.....
    only i can change my date and time and the first bootable device thats it..

    And one more thing i forgot to mention..My Leptop waz orginall installed with win 7 home premium 64 bit ..my leptop is having two memory card slot so once i inserted d memory card in the wrong slot and the memory card got stucked so i took a plucker and removed it from that day my Leptop is very slow processing and the bios takes a long time to bootup the internal hard drive ...so i reinsatlled the whole leptop with wim 7 home premium 32 bit fresh copy so that the problem can be soved but still m facing the same problem..

    What do you mean wrong slot ? Laptop memory is under the keyboard or on the bottom or both and all memory slots are keyed. ( has a notch )

    yes m talking about the two memeory card slots under the keyboard one is of SD and the other SD PRO.. by mistake i inserted the sd pro card in the sd card slot so it got stucked

    Are talking about SD cards....like for camera's and cell phones or the actual RAM (also known as memroy) which is for the laptop.
