Windows 7: autoplay

hi
i have a question about autoplay and its shortcut.
every time i insert a device like flash memory of any kind or external hard or cd-dvd
a shortcut appears in my desktop
how can i disable it?

Hello Pinklotus,

It appears that a shortcut of that drive letter may have been previously created on your desktop at some point. Since the shortcut is for a removable drive, it will only appear when the removable drive is connected or DVD inserted. You should be able to right click on the shortcuts, and click on Delete to remove them.

yes i know that
but i want it to be stopped making these shortcuts permanently
deleting it wouldn't help
every time i delete it but next time it pops up again
can you help me in that case?

Go into autoplay in control panel and uncheck use autoplay for all media and devices or set everything to take no action. See if that does it.
