How can I access files on XP Hard disk? Has a password

Right now I have 1 hard disk, partitioned into a half for xp, a half for seven. I've used xp for years so there stuff on there I need. I set up shortcuts for all the users I share the computer with (on seven) back to their old "My Documents" folder on the xp partition. One of the users has a password and so it tells me I don't have permission to access this folder. What should I do? Is there a way to do this without removing the password?

Alternatively should I just run a file transfer through a 120GB External hard drive I have?

Its a permissions problem. If the user with the password is a regular user and you are admin you could move it and take ownership. If you both are reg users you cant.

Do you want to leave it in xp but have access (one copy in xp) or do you want to move it to win 7 (two copies and not sync'ed)?

The only difference is if you have 2 copies do they have to be sync'ed?

no. We are pretty much going to seven now, im just trying to get everything set up so we can use it. I still will keep xp though as my processor does not support virtualization so I cant use xp mode.

Then its a piece of cake. Pull a copy over and take ownership. there is a tutorial on how to do it, in the tutorial section.
