Hello y'all!

The name's Stefan, I'm from Holland and I'm currently studying property- and contract law.
I have a lot of free time, and a dash of Windows knowledge, and plan to combine those two here

Nice to meet all of you!

Hi. Registered with Win7 Forums last October but have only been here a few times; recently got a new PC (previous PC's were ancient relics with XP3 Home on them!!!) and also a Win7 installation disk on big special (the Tech outfit selling them obviously knew about Microsofts security update plans for Win7!!!); unfortunately the new PC is an ASRock (MotherBoard) of the lowest-end variety (it has a slower Athlon Processor in it than my eight-year old ASUS PC!!!) and am having a lot of trouble with the underpowered 3.2GHz Processor (system monitoring programs show that the Processor is the problem) with lots of "freezeups" that often take several minutes to "unlock", and sometimes it will not "unlock" at all and can only be free'd up again by forced-shutdown and then rebooting.

Am not a Geek, unfortunately, but do know that forced-shutdowns (hitting the "kill" button) are not good for computers, but do not know of any other way to deal with the problem (computer gear in my country, even second-hand stuff, is eye-wateringly expensive, and a better Processor is way out of my financial reach; would never go second-hand either as the local auction website is crawling with ripoffs).

Have got very little "imported" stuff on the Deck also, no big programs like graphics stuff, Word, etc, only some essential security things and a few utilities, but even so the Processor is struggling to handle these "extra's".

Every day i run "Privazer" at least once (the whole hog, including free-space); "WindowWasher"; "CC Cleaner"; and "Bleachbit" to get rid of junk accumulations and then run "ausdiskdefragportable", all of this to try and make it easier for the feeble Processor (this "housekeeping" makes a big difference, but freeze-ups still keep happening if there is a browser and a couple of other programs open as well).

Before going, should warn anyone looking for a new computer and who might be attracted by the (comparatively) lower prices of the ASRock Motherboard machines, that the cheapest ones can only take a maximum of 8GB of RAM and have only got TWO PCI slots (1 x PCI 1, and 1 x PCIE 1). The "documentation" that is supplied with ASRock computers is virtually non-existent (the "Manual" is more like a pamphlet) and the Motherboard CD can be bad news (i only use it to get the Sound Driver after a reinstallation of Win7 OS).

Would have any day preferred an ASUS, but could not afford one.
