Ok I load "optimized defaults" and save and exit.

Lets see how that goes

Btw, my memory is rated by CPUZ as 667mhz

Have a look here; even though it's rated at 1600 the actual speed is 1333

Vengeance®

I do believe if you factor the multiplier of 2 you get 1334 which is right on the money.

Here is some reading info on this.

Memory RAM speed - access time, megahertz (MHz), bytes per second

Ah yes.

Thanks for the clarification.

Just loaded the BIOS defaults. Hope it doesn't hang

I did a quick google for your motherboard + freezing, and there are quite a few threads about it. How old is the motherboard? Have you contacted Asus about it, and maybe getting it RMA'd?

yea i realise this issue is not as rare as i thought it would be.

The motherboard is almost a year old.

I wouldn't want to be so quick to RMA becoz im running a WC setup, and unless its something unfixable on my end, then i would consider RMA.

Reading those threads about the mobo, I have disabled C1E, C3 and C6 in BIOS.

Shall wait and see

Thanks guys, seems like disabling the C1E, C3 and C6 did the trick.

Should have came across the long thread at XS where this issue was explained clearly!

Can you guys help me with using OCCT?
I heard about this benchmark Link - http://www.ocbase.com/ being mentioned over and over so I finally caved in and grabbed it. I turned it on, left all the settings as they were, except for setting the Test Mode to Medium Data Set, as that seems to take up all of my memory. I ran it for 6 minutes,...

A new update to this fine, relatively unknown program. It is a beta, so expect some bugs (see 2nd screenshot for clock info offset), but it worked flawlessly for me. Now has realtime monitoring graphs. Features: Up to 16-core support ( for instance, up to a Quad-Kentsfield or an Octo-Conroe...
