Windows 7 Pro x64 key work on Windows 7 Ultimate x64?

I have a legit key for windows 7 pro rtm x64 was wondering if I can use it on a "back up" iso of windows 7 ultimate.

Hi and welcome

An ISO doesn't need a key till its installed as an OS, "backup or otherwise" Ms eula says you can use it on 1 desktop and 1 mobile.

But, I'm still a little confused here. My point of doing this is to make Windows 7 Ultimate my main OS with a legit product key so I can get all the necessary updates.

If I where to download the iso and install it using a product key for windows 7 pro. Will it work as it would had I provided a windows 7 ultimate product key?

No, the product keys for different versions won't activate each version. Pro won't activate Ultimate, just as a Home Basic key wouldn't activate Home Premium.

Will my legit x32 key for ultimate work for x64?

So if i have a copy of Windows 7 32bit with a Key and i use a windows 7 x64 install the key will work?

Keys are independent of the architecture (32bit/64bit).
