    Hello prateek,

You do not want to convert the disk to dynamic.

Instead, you can create logical partitions using the tutorial below for this.

Partition / Extended : Logical Drives

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

If the disk you converted to dynamic has a operating system installed on it, then you will no longer be able to boot to or start that OS anymore from boot.

You can use OPTION FOUR in the tutorial below to convert the disk back to basic without losing anything. To bbe extra safe, I would strongly recommend to backup anything that you do not want to lose first though.

If you lose bootability you can burn a free Partition Wizard bootable CD on another computer and boot it to do these operations.

Download version 4.2 from here to burn to CD like since that is the last version of PW in which this is a free feature. pw422.zip ISO - Windows Live . Use an image burner like ImgBurn.

Click on the HD # to highlight it, then from the Disk tab select Convert Dynamic Disk to Basic, OK, Apply step at left. Video here: http://www.partitionwizard.com/video...rtdynamic.html

If Win7 will not boot after conversion, boot back into PW CD to make sure the WIn7 partition is marked Active, then from Disk tab select Rebuild MBR, Apply, reboot.

    Hello Greg,

Did they add that feature back to the free version?

    UPDATE:
Nope, it's not available to be used in the free MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition.

No problem, but OPTION FOUR in the tutorial below will still convert a Dynamic disk to Basic without losing anything on it using the latest version. It's just a workaround method of doing it.

Unfortunately, this will not work for the OP since it's for his OS disk unless he placed the HDD into another computer and did this on it instead.
