My 2nd HDD is Corrupted all of a sudden, all folders have locks.

    Hi Guys and Girls :)

So I have one computer in my shop which i use for downloads/client backups/ and data storage.

So this computer stays on all of the time, but my 2nd hdd have alot of folders in them like games/client backups/programs etc....

all these folders have locs on them, and every single type of file in there is corrupted, photos dont open, zip files dont open, pdf you name it.

its not that my computer has shut down, it just happened.

    i cant lose these files.

    i have windows 7 32bit pro installed on a 500gb, 2nd hdd 2tb (corrupted one), and the third one also a 2tb.

its just the 2nd hdd thats corrupted.

i have tried a scandisk in windows, cmd, and also in safemode, nothing.

im sure i dont have a virus on.

please if someone have any idea what i can do please let me know.

    Thank you in advance.

    Dear code58,
A warm welcome to SevenForums, Since the prob. occured suddenly, a "Malware infection" is high on the list. Let us proceed in this manner. Can you kindly list the security software you have on-board? Locks on the folders cannot stop the entry of Malware!

    regards,
    sreedhav

Well, my problem is sorted :)

I formatted the HDD Drive, And used "Data Recovery Wizzard" scanned the whole drive, recovered all of the data, without any corruption.

So, thank you for your help sreedhav.

I will definitly come back to this amazing site.

    Have a great day!!

    Dear code58,
That's a class act! Yet, i want you to do two things in this order please.

    1) Download SAS Portable scanner and just run it for Malware. Site to download: SUPERAntiSpyware.com - SUPERAntiSpyware Portable Scanner

    2) Do a system file check on the 2nd HDD. SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    best wishes,
    sreedhav

    Dear code58,
that's great news! I/We would definitely like to see you around in this site!:):) Surprisingly, the free version of the wizard allows recovery of only one GB of data.
