Unable to access encrypted files after changing PC Name

I was an idiot and I thought that somehow going to properties > security to a bunch of important files would somehow make them more safe to a potential hacker who gained access to my computer. I was probably in some alternate mental state when I did this.

Anyway after changing my PC Name and being unable to access them I changed my PC name back to what it originally was thinking that would solve the problem and lo and behold it didn't. I have been browsing the internet for the past 45 minutes (quite litterally) in trying to figure this out and I have done pretty much about everything possible through the context menu and also use of the takeown command in cmd. I have tried taking ownership through advanced security tab and yet I still get denied. my current pc name is clearly listed, in fact all users which is just system, my current pc name and my old pc name are all showing as allowed in all the checkboxes, so from what I can see I have permission but its not allowing me to access it.

I also read a previous thread on here where the OP was told that he will never be able to access the file again without the key, now noting I didn't backup or create any key when I was in my altered mental state however unlike him, I did not reformat my OS. So I would think that theoretically there must be some way I can access it.

If you don't want to help me because I'm dumb then do it for the children

"Please help us access these files!"
