Get an external usb/wireless keyboard and/or mouse, possibly with styling favored by children. Then, the lid/display can remain down throughout the computer session.

thank you for the answer. but my problem is that i don't want the child to be able to unplug external monitor, mouse and keyboard, to open the lid and get to the computer. we have the external monitor because we want to prevent the child of surfing in the internet without us to be able to watch him. so i want to find a way to permanently disable the laptop screen.

    Take out the LCD panel.

That really depends on the hardware. I suggest you ask on a Lenovo support site. Have you tried Lenovo to see if they have downloadable documentation which might help you?

If your Lenovo doesn't have a way to shut off the screen, then physically unplugging the LCD connector (or at least the backlight) may be your only option. This would involve taking the laptop apart, so again see if Lenovo has any documentation on-line which shows how. I know some laptop makers (Dell, Compaq) provide this for download.

Or build a wood box and lock it up!

I think rkd7949 hit the nail on the head. If you feel froggy enough, then bust it open and simply find the lcd power and video connector and unplug them both. See if you can find a youtube teardown (or other web info) that someone else has done with your same model laptop and watch it. This way you know what to expect when taking on such a task.

Or you could build some type of wooden box with some type of method to hit the power button from outside the box. You could also make some type of lockable clamp that wraps around the laptop so that you can open the lid enough to push the power button but not be able to to open it up enough to be usable.

How old is this child. Why aren`t you just telling him or her not to change anything with the pc. If they do, you take the pc away. You can always configure your pc for certain users and you can also configure your router.
