robocopy skipping folders (moving c:\users)
Hey there,
I'm attempting to use the guide posted on lifehacker to move the users folder to a different drive as W7 is installed on a rather small SSD.
The guide is here: Move the Users Directory in Windows 7
I followed the directions to the letter, except of course, when it came to fixing the drive letters. C: was swapped to e: while the drive that I would like users on is f:
I've tried it with and without /copyall. I've tried changing the switch to - instead of /, and I've tried using /xjd instead. But every single time, robocopy skips 37 (of 195) directories and the process fails.
Does this guide simply not work? Or am I missing something? I'd really like to move the whole thing (especially Appdata), not just documents.
I'm using upgrade media of W7 home premium 64bit and a fresh installation of W7 (unactivated as yet - though I had the same problem before with a fully updated/activated version of windows.)
I doubt it's needed, but specs:
i5 2500k, 8gb ram ddr3-1300, p67 gigabyte motherboard (I can't recall the model offhand), 1tb wd caviar black, 64gb crucial m4, radeon hd 6850. The partition I'm trying to move the users folder to is freshly formatted ntfs with nothing on it as of yet. I checked the drive - it's apparently healthy. It's also only 2 weeks old.
Thanks in advance - this is rather frustrating.
