Need more info on those cases.

You can try to spot info for errors with Event Viewer.

Open the Start Menu, and type eventvwr.msc in the search box and press enter.
If prompted by UAC, then click on Yes.
In the left pane of Event Viewer, double click on Windows Logs to expand it, then right click on Application and check for errors (see screenshot). If no related errors will be in Application, please check System section.

Please post description of errors occurred within the described time.

It sounds strange.
I would recommend to check your system for malware.
You could use free tools like
Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool or Malwarebytes etc.

Also, you can enable Event log service via CodeStuff Starter (Services tab - Windows Event Log. Make it Automatic and run it).

What did you do just before this started? You could be looking at a reinstall if you can't/won't try a restore point. Unless the only restore point you have is from your initail install, it won't uninstall all of your programs, just one to that point.

I think you should full scan for registry errors and malwares. Make sure that computer is virus free.

I am not going to be any help but just so everyone knows I have had this same issue before. For weeks I looked for a solution and never found one. Luckily Windows Explorer would start working again for me after a minute or so.

I did a new install about a month ago where I did a format of my C drive before the new install. I have not had the problem since then (keeping my fingers crossed).

When I was having the issue I ran the Error Log (it gave me no clue as to the problem), I ran full scans with Malwarebytes and MSE and both showed that I was clean of malware and viruses.

Now you see why I can't help you. I can only tell you that you are not alone with this issue.

Good Luck

Have a look at this Microsoft utility, which may be of help in troubleshooting your problem: Download: Windows 7 Walkthrough: Problem Steps Recorder - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

You may also want to consider a repair install to fix underlying problems with your system.

Repair Install

It shouldn't affect your personal data or installed applications, but do backup anything important first just in case.

Hey demetroman,
You can solve your problem by installing a theme, it will change your Windows Explorer to a new one, this may help!
My friends told me it is not illegal because it is a custom Windows Explorer! If you want it post that you want it and I will show you the steps!
