You don't really need a search feature integrated into Explorer in W7, just type the file name into the seach bar on the start menu and it'll find it.

    Win7 64bit navigation problem

    HI,
First off the reponse from "dreamer" is spam! I clicked on the link he provided for a tutorial and saw a chevy commercial and to stop it I had to shut down Firefox. Is that kind of interaction a regular thing here? I don't have time to waste on watching ads I have no interest in.

SEcondly, I totally understand that I"m supposed to enter in the term in the search bar but I want to narrow it down to the type of file, date range etc. I don't want 302856732 results when I search for the word "jazz" on my c drive because I can't remember the doc's name. It was so simple in XPPro, click on search, answer some questions, and BAM! file found. and if there's an add on out there, I would appreciate the info so I can get back to being productive.

    Thanks for your help.

I forgot to say that I have an XP machine on the network and I can log onto my 7 machine from it and find stuff in a flash that I can't ever seem to find if I'm searching from WE in 7. Makes no sense.

The link works for me. It sounds as though the problem is at your end...something is redirecting you to the commercial. Try a different browser.

Something is wrong on your end.The link i posted is a link to the tutorial from this site itself.Call it a spam when everyone who clicks on this link get the same response as you got.

Furthermore if you are getting browser redirect i suggest you go for a full malware/virus scan since it is a tell tale sign of virus infection.

    Thanks

Thank you for the info about running virus scans. I have the following running in the background at all times and they are updated at least once a day: Norton AV, Ad-Aware and Malwarebytes. I also manually update and run Spybot S&D and Microsoft Security Essentials along with a few others if I feel I may have gone to a skanky site.

Now, can anyone help me with either a suggested add-on or how to search in 7 like I can in XPPro?
