My Windows Desktop icons have taken on a strange look (picture attached). They still work but I want my pretty pictures. I have tried rebooting and even rebooting into Safe Mode. Any more ideas?
It looks like your shortcut arrow overlay icon got messed up somehow. Using OPTION ONE in the tutorial below to restore the default shortcut arrow should be able to fix this for you.
I have found your batch file via Google and tried it already. The problem remains. This started several months ago when I decided that I need a domain controller in my home and joined the domain. This PC is just on a workgroup now. I am told that this is pretty common when a computer detaches from a domain.

What BAT file?
Option One using the Vista Shortcut Overlay Remover program in that tutorial to change the icon to the default shortcut arrow should restore it.
