I just changed my taskbar to use big icons instead of using small icons like I normally use. When I did set it to use big, it blocked the watermark for a minute then it was back to normal, showing the watermark on top of the bigger taskbar. And if you unlock the taskbar and pull it up one level, it will block the watermark.

i tried changing every single option in the taskbar settings, but nothing helped. is there maybe a registry option to get the taskbar in the foreground?

    Postwarbreakout,

You should also send feedback to Microsoft about this to help make them aware of this. If it's a bug, then hopefully they will get it fixed in the next release of Windows 7.

I have the exact same problem, but so far my registry investigations have turned up nothing, for some reason it keeps resetting them. The relevant key seems to be:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StuckRects2

While I couldn't tell you exactly what each bit does, if you google StuckRects2 there is some info floating around, none of it RE: win 7 unfortunately.

I have been trying to change the value to what my working windows 7 install has, which is:

    28 00 00 00 FF FF FF FF
    02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
    4A 00 00 00 30 00 00 00
    00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
    4A 00 00 00 1A 04 00 00

However it keeps changing it back to its normal value when I reboot/logoff, so i'll keep trying and keep ya posted if i get it fixed.

I am curious as to what caused it, I just upgraded from vista and i suspect it may have been MultiMon or ObjectDock which caused the problems, were you running either of these before you upgraded?

    BOOOYAH!

    I fixed it!

    basically, just follow instructions here:

Disable Taskbar always on top (W2K) - PC Tools Community Forum

you need to download the ls-tools from the link above

all i needed to change was the value AFTER the FF FF FF FF to 02

then i started cmd.exe as an administrator, went to where i extracted ls-tools, and ran the program with appropriate flags like so:

    down /R /Q /F

this will will restart the system and voila! taskbar on top

    good luck fixing it!

    Rautiocination,

This can help make enabling and disabling the taskbar to always be on top easier to do.
