How do I fix the Task Manager Columns?

Kay, one day I was opening the task manager and I accidentally removed or moved some columns around and I can't figure out how to get it back.. I can't find the "Image Name" column in the "Select Process Page Columns" any ideas how I restore the task manager back process tab to normal?

Hi youji and welcome to Seven Forums.

if you open View->Select Columns. A dialogue will open where you can tick the columns you want. To move the column just click on the column header and drag it to where you want.

I tried that, the "Image Name" column doesn't exist in the list and i tried every column to restore it but couldn't find it!

It doesn't show anything like "Firefox.exe" , "chrome.exe" etc any ideas?

Ah yes I see. That is a problem. I don't know whether it will help but there area couple of things you can try.

1. You could try running sfc /scannow to repair any system files. This tutorial shows you how. SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

2. if that doesn't work you could try a system restore back to a time it was working. System Restore

Dear yuji,
Kado is a Tiger, and i am just a cat! FWIW, try this. Open the Task Manager. Click open processes. Now click open view. Now select" select columns".

View the snapshots posted below and Tick what i have ticked. Hope it helps.Otherwise kindly follow Kado's advise!

regards,
sree

If something was broken you need to run it up to three times until it runs clean with a reboot between each.

If that does not solve your problem you may need to do a repair install. This will not lose your data but you should make an image just in case. Repair Install

If anyone else has any ideas please jump in.

Ah, thanks for the suggestion however I don't think it's a good idea seeing as my problem don't seem to be that big since it's just missing columns in the task manager. I'm mainly looking for the "Image Name" column, it's gotta be a reg hack for it some where to add that .. but like you said it would be nice if anyone else jump in to help.

Yes I agree. If that is your only problem it does seem a bit of overkill which is why I asked for other input.

You could also try Sysinternals Process Explorer.
It has a lot more info than Task Manager.
