Adding old sata hard drive to new computer I just ordered a new computer with windows 7 professional 64. My old computer has Windows XP. I would like to install the old hard drive in my new one (new one has a bay for 3 hard drives). After the installation, will I be able to access files from the old hard drive? | My System Specs |

Yes.
The C drive on the new computer should still be in charge if you connect the old drives and allow you to view, copy, or delete any files. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Ignatz Special; 4 speed manual gearbox; factory air conditioning; one of one OS Windows 7 SP1, Home Premium, 64-bit CPU Intel Sandy Bridge i5-2500, not overclocked Motherboard Gigabyte H67A-UD3H-B3, full ATX Memory 4 GB Crucial DDR3-1333 Graphics Card none; graphics are integrated on CPU Sound Card onboard: Realtek ALC892; external: USB Behringer UF0-202 Monitor(s) Displays NEC 90GX2-BK 19" LCD Screen Resolution 800 x 640 Keyboard Leopold Tenkeyless with Cherry Blue switches, USB Mouse Logitech or Microsoft optical wired; either USB or PS 2 PSU Seasonic SS-560KM, modular Case Antec Solo II Cooling CPU: Scythe Big Shuriken; Case: Scythe Slipstream 800 & 500 Hard Drives System: Intel 320 Series SSD, 80 GB;

You should be able to. Windows should see it, install the drivers, and a auto play pop up will appear. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built by Me ! Johnnydot that was a great question. I've been thinking about that myself. I have a working Hdd with XP on it, and going to try putting it in my Win 7 machine. I believe it could be used as a dual Hdd/dual boot system. I have a Gigabyte MB, and if I hit f12 during post I should be able to pick which drive boots. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom build OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU i7 960 3.20Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte X58A UD3R Memory 16GB Crucial Ballistix DDR3 Triple Channel Graphics Card Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 ftw Sound Card On-Broad Monitor(s) Displays 27" Samsung HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 PSU 850W Thermaltake Case CoolerMaster HAF 932 Advanced Cooling Corsair H80, Hard Drives Crucial m4 128GB SSD
