Hi, I have a acer travelmate 4070 laptop when you turn it on it starts beeping loud,
I started clicking enter so it can boot quick lol as soon laptop booted, opened window
went to normal screen operation it stopped beeping.
I gave it a shut down, turned it on again and that loud beeping started again.
Sounds like a smoke detector lol the beep wont stop, what can it be ?

Those beeps indicate a problem with the computer. If you take notice of the number and sequnce and if they are long or short beeps, we can determine what the computer is trying to tell you. The information can be found on line or even better in your computer manual.

OK Test the memory, it is always good to be sure its up to par.
If that does not work, Im pretty sure that if you remove the CMOS battery and let the computer rest for a while it should be ok.

If all else fails, and you know how its done, update BIOS.

If it were my computer, I would save the settings. I have found out that a back up is always the way to go.
I think this may help

Beeping is normally associated with wrong date and time settings in BIOS.In my case there was a loud beeping noise indicating wrong date & time in BIOS.

@Dansh Enter BIOS by pressing F2 key repeatedly when starting laptop.Check and change date/time settings in BIOS.Save and exit & then restart laptop.

If this fails then i would suggest to change CMOS battery.

Pay close attention to the number of beeps, if the beeps are long or short and if the beeping repeats or not. There is a big difference between a "beep-beep-beep" beep code and a "beep-beep" beep code.

This is all important information that will help determine what issue the beep codes are representing.

If 1 long, 8 short beeps then it represents Display/Retrace test failed

Follow these guidelines:
  • Remove new hardware, Disks and USB device
  • Disconnect external devices
  • Check all cables and fans
  • Remove RAM and re-insert it
