Do you have Sleep enabled and set to desired timeout at Control Panel>Power Options?
If so then see if you have a System Restore point before the problem arose, revert to it and then set a new Restore point entitled Sleep and capture a Windows 7 backup image so you can restore it if this happens again and the Restore point goes away: Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup
