    Administrators account name

The administrators user account on my computer here is "Darrin" (my first name) however whenever I am doing anything behind the scenes, it only accepts the name "Dar" as a real user. "Darrin" is not found. I can't understand how to correct this. The user folder is "Darrin" C:\Users\Darrin. It displays "Darrin" when I go to log in.

But when I tried to add "Darrin" to the users with permission to view this external drive, it was like, NOPE NO ONE NAMED DARRIN ROUND THESE PARTS HOMBRE! RECON YOU LOOKIN FOR "DAR"

How the hell do I make the system nme or whatever this is, change from dar to Darrin.

background: when i first started up this junker, it asked me to create a user name. Tried to type Darrin, all it took was Dar. I later went in and thought I changed everything to Darrin, but apparently not... any help would be appreciated.

Greetings "thorsmitersaw" and welcome to SevenForums.

Interesting, I suggest taking a look at your "User Accounts." Go to Control Panel, then User Accounts. Once there, click "Manage another account." Are there any other accounts besides the Guest that have admin privileges? Also, check the name of your primary account there, is it what you want it to be or is it "Dar?"

You need to take ownership of everything as Dar, and make sure you have full privleges. After you`ve done that delete the Darrin account. Or whichever account you want to get rid of.

Easiest way is to create a new user account as an admin then delete the 'Dar' account.

If you need or want full control while you do this, unhide the built-in admin account and do it from there.

The only two accounts on the computer are "Darrin" (which, as I mentioned, is there and most other places labeled "Darrin", but the system seems to only recognize it as "Dar" when I am doing anything technical. This account also is had admin privileges to my knowledge) and the guest account I made (not an admin).

So make a second Darrin also with admin, and then delete the old one. I was hoping I would not have to do that. What will happen to the things I have saved in my documents for "Darrin"? and my preferences and start up list and etc? Is there a way to preserve that? Maybe save that stuff and transplant it to the new "Darrin"? I was really hoping I could fix the system recognition of the name of the "Darrin" account.

A hidden admin account huh? Hmm.

You can create a new user profile with a new account, and then copy your old profile to it before you delete the old user account that's giving you problems.

However, before you go down that route, this tutorial may be of interest to you.
