Do i need to do anymore?

Hi there,

I have an old Dell XPS M1530 and wanted to salvage the hard drive, buy an enclosure and use it as an external hard drive. This is what i typed in:

select disk 0
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
format fs=ntfs quick

Do i need to do anymore? or can i just put it in an enclosure and use it as a hard drive? and will i have the 320 GB on the drive to use?

I think you are OK.

But I'd go back into diskpart and look at the results.

Probably with these commands

List disk (should show disk 0)
Select disk 0
List part (should show partition 1)
Select part 1

Do you see a part 1 with the expected size?

If so, you are good to go, but you can always recheck in Windows Disk Management after you get it connected.

I'm not sure, but I don't think you have to assign a drive letter in diskpart.
