I've done a few things already but it's still fairly slow:
Downloaded and ran Ccleaner
Uninstalled a few program's leaving me with only a few
Deleted a lot of unnecessary things in my documents.
Set the display options to look bad but give better performance
And finally I cleared all Internet history and cookies.

Anything else I've missed?
Thank you

Try going into system configuration > startup tab and uncheck (disable) everything except your antivirus suite. You can type msconfig.exe in the Start menu search box > click enter. By disabling everything that wants to start as soon as you power on the computer, you should be able to speed things up a bit. You could also look through the tutorial on how to optimize Windows 7. Not everything will apply to you and you might want to be very selective on what you change. I'd make notes so I can change something back to the way it was and I'd also make a restore point, just in case.

Work through these steps to Clean Up Factory Bloatware - Windows 7 Forums

If performance doesn't improve here are basic Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums

You can look in Disk Management to see if you have a Recovery Partition. If so there should be a way to run it from All Programs. If not reboot and look for the key given for Recovery on first boot screen, tap that key to cue it up and see what it offers.

However that will reinstall all of the corrupting factory bloatware so first arm yourself with the information you need to know to get the superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
