Somehow and I am really noy sure how by changing one file association I changed them all. I have tried to change them back but whenever I change one it changes them all to the new one. How can I reset them?
File associations are based on the extension, ie .jpg, .doc, .xls etc... so if you change the association on one file, it changes it for all files with the same extension. You can't set the association for a single file.

That explains why when I change one they all change but how did I change them all to them all to the same thing in the first place
Originally there were numerous extensions types somehow by changing one rtf to jpg I changed them all to jpg... And from then on as they were all the same they all change to the new ext !!!
How did you change the file's extension from rtf to jpg? Are you saying all rtf have now been changed to jpg or are you saying that all extensions have been changed to jpg?

In changing one rtf to jpg I somehow change all the extenions to jpg. Now when I change any extension it changes all of them. I can change them all to pretty much anything but I can't change them individually
It seems like something is missing. As Strollin posted above, could you also explain step by step how you are changing the one RTF to a JPG to see if that may reveal a cause?
