I'm trying to install some software that doesn't recognize windows 7 as an OS older than xp or 2000, so I figured I'd set the installer to compatibility with vista or xp or something, and after half an hour of looking, I realized I no longer had compatibility mode anywhere under properties of any icon, installer, program, etc.
... help?
Does this have anything to do with a recent update or anything?
if you type "run programs made for previous versions of windows" in start menu search, does it give you any result, and if it does, are you able to run that application to run programs in compatibility mode?
Currently I'm thinking you don't have a .exe file (application) or that the software has been IDed as something that won't run on 7 even under compatiablity.

It was Gizmo, a skype like applicaiton. However, I can't access compatability mode from any icon I've tried, warcraft, calculator, Notepad, Photoshop, Gimp, Aim, Winamp, pictures, etc.
There is a service that runs the compatibility engine(cant remember its name though )
Try going through all services descriptions until you find it and enable it...
